Electric Chair Executions: Exclusive Products of Mancunia

July 31, 2006

Manchester Clubbing Institution The Electric Chair has been keeping the warehouse party vibe going for over 11 years. A mystic brew of house, disco, hip-hop, broken beat, Latin, R&B, techno and northern sulphuric soul that has seen such clubbing luminaries as Joe Claussell, Laurent Garnier and Francois Kevorkian grace the Music Box DJ booth alongside resident alchemists Luke and Justin Unabomber.

Having been fortunate enough last year to attend The Electric Chair loft party in secret Manchester location where Mad Matts, Kelvin Brown and Henrik Schwarz blew the fecking roof off, I can attest to the excellence of their clubnights.

Over the past few years, Luke and Justin have also released several quality compilations of tracks that are guaranteed dancefloor bombs. The Electriks family are also responsible for a series of disco and boogie re-edits released on the Electric Souls label. These were strictly limited vinyl only pressings which were always promptly snapped up. However, The Electriks peeps did see sense and put together a cd of the 13 best selections from those releases and they sent me a copy which was extremely nice of them.

Here are a couple of my favourite tracks from this collection (all m4a. files)

UB’s Return – Bump & Dilly

UB – Shake Em Up

I was also recently given a CDr of sneaky re-edits and productions by the Unabombers and friends so I thought I would share a couple with ya (all m4a. files)

Marvin Gaye – Inner City Blues

CJ & O Band – J’ouvert

Elektrons – Sunshine Love

You can purchase lots of Electric Chair related musical goodness here and check their website for mixes, info on upcoming shows and photo galleries of previous Electriks Executions
