Much as I love a bit of faux punk outrage and sub-electroclash nonsense from well brought up kids, every now and then I find myself yearning for something a little less synthetic and bleeding edge that isn’t afraid to wear its heart on its sleeve.
The last week or so the new Prince Language mix of LCD’s ‘Part 1’ has been filling this role admirably. Probably my favourite track of the past couple of years, I was a little unsure as to how you could improve on perfection, but somehow P Lingo has managed to at least equal the original in all its big gospel disco greatness.
It’s like he’s taken something as un-fucking-touchably great as the McRib, the kind of thing that only comes around once in a blue moon and without messing with the vision and greatness of the original he’s somehow gone and added some extra flavour. It’s a McRib with Bacon that’s what this is.
Anyway after all that you’ll probably be expecting the hook up… and I’m sorry but you’re going to be dissapointed. This ones being kept under wraps for the mean time but what you can feast on is this lovely extended edit by Prins Thomas of ‘This Sweet Love’ by Moshi Moshi’s latest signing James Yuill.
If any track could be said to wear it’s heart on it’s sleeve it’s this, and a big messy heart it is too, just the kind of thing to make grown men blub warm salty tears into their beards when they think no one is looking. The single is out on the 14th with remixes from the likes of We Have Band and Drums Of Death, meanwhile if you head over to James’ own blog you’ll find a couple of extra mixes to grab at your leisure.
The video’s a bit nice if equally soppy as well, check it out below.
Right I’m off to man up and listen to some Eisterzende Neubaten.
