The E Ticket

June 21, 2008

Thursday evening was spent at the This Is Music launch party where much fun was had. Wet Paint were a slightly odd choice to open proceedings with, being straight up indie rock of the variety that can be found at the Barfly any night of the week – more Wet Blanket than Paint.

Lord Skywave (otherwise known as Simon Lord – the vocal compartment of Black Ghosts) did as impressive a job of singing over music leaking out of laptop. I stand by the opinion that Lord Skywave is filling in for Jamie Liddell whilst he gets therapy for developing a Jamiroquai esque alter ego. By far my favourite track from the Lord Skywave album is Idyll (Just Like)

The majority of Barringtone’s performance was missed as I was discussing the pros and cons of living in New York over a couple of cigarettes. What little I did catch was impressive – Barringtone has a single out on Monday called Snakes In The Grass produced by Jas Shaw from Simian Mobile Disco. Here is remix by Frankmusik

Little Boots did an impressive job of Djing inbetween bands (there was an intriguing remix of It’s The Beat amongst it all) The blonde hair is a good look too! Here is awesome Fake Blood remix of Stuck On Repeat, there is plenty of hooohaah over the identity of Fake Blood, personally my money is on Burial.

In the last bout of sillyness, a Little Boots remix of Leon Jean Marie was posted and not ten minutes after that further remix shaped Leon Jean Marie produce was jettisoned in my direction – this time new single Bed of Nails with refix duties from Swedish producer Kocky. This has bass swirls and drum stomps in all the right places, sort of like a 21st century update on glam rock

Watch out for the official release with remixes from Dubsteppah Rusko and new hype beat Jack Beats (Beni g and Plus One) this Kocky remix is not being released so it’s exclusive, though it prolly is on some other blog.

Speaking of Rusko, look out for his and fellow jumpupdubstupper Caspa’s remix of old jungle classic We Are I.E. by Lennie De Ice on Y4K. This forthcoming release is home to perhaps the most chucklesome one sheet for some time and also contains exciting remixes from HiJack, breaks grandad Rennie Pilgrem and new Greco Roman signing Drums of Death which you can hear by clicking on the below words

Lennie De Ice – We Are I.E. (Drums of Death Remix)

This will all be released on 1st September, for further jungleravementalism go take a peek at the Exploding Art blog which contains the original in extended format and a Johan Filtermann funky bassline 99 style remix in high bit rate glory
